If you’re thinking of starting a podcast, or it’s early on in your podcasting career, I would highly recommend taking a few minutes and writing down the “why” of starting on this adventure. Whether you are doing this for fame and fortune, to meet new people, or because there is a story you need to get out of your head, it’s a good way to bring some focus to your process.

Along with enjoying the sound of my own voice, the show started as a way to help me address some of my challenges, specifically:
- Staying inspired and motivated
- Writing on a regular basis
- Looking for new projects
I think a lot of “starting a podcast” articles and guides focus on the audience you want to target and the niche you’re going to fill, but I recommend exploring how the podcast and the process will help you.
