Podcasts, To a Certain Degree

Jesse James Allen

This episode was recorded on January 14, 2019, on WPRK FM. You can listen to the entire interview here and also subscribe via Apple or Google.

As you listen to this interview with Jesse James Allen, the term “self-taught” will seem to sum him up. He’s the kind of guy who sees something interesting and goes after it until he understands it. As he puts it, he’s not necessarily tech savvy, he just doesn’t let the machinery intimidate him.

But there’s more to it than being self-taught. To learn digital mapping, for example, he joined a community of like-minded enthusiasts who were also trying to figure things out. Storytelling is not just about getting on stage, he found. It’s also about being in the audience and creating a supportive environment for the other speakers.

It’s the same with movies, music, photography, cars, and whatever might be next for him.

Skip Ahead:

  • Get all your super wolf blood moon at 9:50.
  • A number one song on the Billboard charts? Yes, Jesse worked on one. Kind of by accident. (41:02)
  • At 52:26, Nick pitches ways to overcome the fear of public speaking.
