As usual, I start construction before I’m done sketching.
There has to be a more elegant way to open tapes.
Tape is back together to feed the wrapping process.
The stripes look kind of cool. Not in a Van Halen way.
I figured out how to get the process to go faster. Not sure if it’s something I’ll ever do again, but there you are.
The tape has a very distinctive sheen.
Burned my finger wrapping too fast. An injury no one has ever had before?
Sort of finished product? Looking for ways to use all the pieces and parts.
This is a new series I’m working on, similar to the Southern Reach trilogy shelf I put together in my office. A few notes:
- I really like the play on words calling these pieces “mantels.”
- Bryan Adams isn’t necessarily the artist I would choose to commemorate, but he is Canadian. And the tape was 25 cents.
- I’m still trying to find ways to use all the parts. A longer piece of wood, and I should be able to show a fully deconstructed cassette.
